Dr. Alex Freund

Biography

Alexander is an Assistant Professor of Trumpet at Georgia State University (GSU) and Second Trumpet at The Atlanta Opera. He is a founding member of M5 MEXICAN BRASS, performing globally at prestigious venues. Born in Germany, he studied at the University of Arts in Berlin, University Saar, and McGill University.

Alexander has held roles such as Co-Principal Trumpet at Opera Bremen and performed with major orchestras like the Berlin State Opera. From 2003 to 2018, he was principal trumpet in Mexican orchestras and taught at the Conservatorio de las Rosas. He created the “Mindfulness & Meditation” seminar at GSU and has hosted 22 guest artists between 2018 and 2021. He is also an Honorary Professor of the Peruvian Trumpet Academy and Assistant Director of the World Trumpet Society.
